Abstract

Biodegradable polymer composites have gained significant attention as environmentally sustainable alternatives to conventional synthetic polymers. Traditional plastic materials, widely used in packaging, construction, and consumer products, often create serious environmental problems due to their non-biodegradable nature and long-term persistence in ecosystems. In response to increasing concerns about plastic pollution and resource depletion, researchers have focused on developing biodegradable polymers and composite materials that can decompose naturally without causing long-term environmental damage. Biodegradable polymer composites are typically produced by combining biodegradable polymers with natural fibers or fillers such as cellulose, starch, bamboo fiber, and agricultural residues. These materials offer several advantages, including reduced environmental impact, improved mechanical properties, and the ability to degrade through natural biological processes. Common biodegradable polymers used in composite materials include polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), and starch-based polymers. When reinforced with natural fibers, these polymers exhibit enhanced strength, durability, and thermal stability, making them suitable for various industrial applications.
