Abstract

Through the lens of critical analysis, postcolonial literature investigates the cultural, political, and psychological effects that colonialism had on civilizations that had previously been colonized. A profound investigation into postcolonial identity and cultural conflict can be found in Chinua Achebe's works, particularly when viewed in the context of African culture. the manner in which Achebe depicts the conflict that arises between indigenous customs and the imposition of Western colonial norms, with a particular emphasis on issues of cultural displacement, resistance, and identity crisis. Through works of fiction such as Things Fall Apart, Achebe shows the disruption of traditional Igbo society by colonial forces, as well as the battle of individuals and groups to maintain their unique identity. The internal and external issues that the protagonist faces are direct reflections of the larger societal challenges that were encountered throughout the colonial encounter. The narrative of Achebe not only aims to recover African history and voice from Eurocentric perspectives, but it also seeks to condemn the disastrous impact that colonialism has had.
