Abstract

This field study examines the rise of silent communication within Algerian families in the context of the widespread use of social-media platforms. From a sociological perspective, the study focuses on family interactions increasingly marked by limited face-to-face dialogue, withdrawal, and the substitution of symbols or digitally mediated exchanges for spoken conversation.

The researchers seek to identify the principal conditions that have contributed to this phenomenon, assess the risks it poses to family relationships, and suggest possible ways of addressing it. A case-study approach was applied to a sample of Algerian families, and the paper concludes by presenting the principal findings derived from the field investigation.
