Abstract

Since ancient times, astrology has put forward the hypothesis that the positions of celestial bodies at the moment of birth have an effect on the characteristics of an individual's personality. This provides a symbolic framework for comprehending human conduct. Contemporary personality theories, on the other hand, are founded on empirical research within the field of psychology. These theories attempt to explain personality by utilizing measurable characteristics, biological elements, and environmental influences. This article presents a comparative comparison of contemporary psychological models and astrological personality conceptions, with a specific focus on the Big Five Personality Traits. the ways in which astrological classifications, such as zodiac signs and the characteristics that are linked with them, are similar to and different from frameworks of personality that have been confirmed by scientific research. The current theories of astrology place an emphasis on reliability, validity, and predicted accuracy, in contrast to the intuitive and culturally rooted descriptions of human characteristics that are offered by astrology. There are areas of commonality, such as generic trait descriptions, as well as major variances, such as the level of methodological rigor and the amount of empirical support. The research also explores the psychological attractiveness of astrological personality interpretations, the influence of cognitive biases, and the human desire to seek coherent self-narratives. All of these topics are included in the analysis. Despite the fact that astrology has not been validated by scientific research, it continues to exert an influence on people's perceptions of themselves and their interactions with others in ways that are comparable to formal personality frameworks.
