Manifestations of Dialogue with the Other in the Thought of Emir Abdelkader: A Sociological Reading

Abstract

This article aims to analyze “the manifestations of dialogue with the Other in the thought of Emir Abdelkader from a sociological perspective,” by highlighting his vision as a civilizational model that establishes a comprehensive human awareness based on the values of tolerance and openness as components for building rational social action. The research addresses the Emir’s ability to achieve cognitive harmony between the Islamic reference in its original sources (the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah) and openness to rational and philosophical knowledge, reflecting a conscious communicative methodology that sought to produce a rational and humanistic conception of dialogue within contexts of conflict and social interaction. The article reviews his educational and health contributions as an expression of his reformist vision, which falls within a project of social modernization that balances material necessities and spiritual values in managing the relationship with the Other. The research relied on the sociological analysis method to deconstruct the intellectual and religious structures that formed the foundations of this dialogical system. The research concluded that dialogue for the Emir represents a deeply rooted civilizational strategy, whose relevance derives from its ability to promote coexistence and regulate the dynamics of social and cultural diversity within non-conflictual interactive frameworks.
