Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of the clinical psychologist in addressing psychological problems within the school environment from a scientific perspective that links students’ mental health with the quality of learning and social adjustment. Schools are no longer merely spaces for knowledge transmission; rather, they have become developmental, social, and emotional environments where the needs of children and adolescents intersect with family expectations, curricula, and classroom relationships.

The importance of clinical psychological intervention in schools has increased in light of the growing prevalence of anxiety, depression, bullying, violence, impulsive behaviors, and adjustment difficulties. Such problems may adversely affect academic achievement, social integration, identity formation, and readiness to learn.

This article adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on a review of psychological and educational literature and employs a multi-level framework that integrates prevention, early detection, clinical assessment, psychological intervention, family counseling, and coordination with educational and healthcare professionals.

The findings indicate that the clinical psychologist plays a pivotal role in establishing a school environment that supports mental health, provided that clear professional guidelines, ethical autonomy, precise referral mechanisms, and institutional collaboration with school administrators, teachers, families, and health services are ensured. Furthermore, the article emphasizes that the effectiveness of school-based psychological care cannot be achieved through individual treatment alone but rather through a comprehensive system that integrates psychological support into the everyday culture of the school.
